As a part of our plan to assign anchor hotels to the 19 major cities that hold our coast-to-coast route together, we just signed on the Embassy Suites Sacramento. Like our Des Moines anchor, also an Embassy Suites, our new Sacramento home base is also a landmark property right next to a river. With stunning views of the Tower Bridge, a steel vertical lift water crossing built in 1935 that rises 162 feet above the Sacramento river, the Embassy Suites Sacramento is located just a few short blocks from another landmark structure, the CA State Capitol.
On Friday July 25, it is also from the Embassy Suites Sacramento that Sacramento bike coordinator Ed Cox will begin and end his annual Tour of Sacramento. A part of our annual Mayors’ Ride campaign, we will be doing all this in July to showcase our three California anchor hotels:
San Francisco – the Intercontinental San Francisco
Oakland – the Marriott Oakland City Center
Sacramento – the Embassy Suites Sacramento
In the fall and winter of 2014 we will be busy with connecting these lodging purveyors to the places cyclists eat, sightsee, shop and play in their cities. This we will busy ourselves with as we finalize our entire coast-to-coast line up all in anticipation of the high profile tour of our National Bicycle Greenway route that Mr Greenway, Ray Irvin, and Martin Krieg will be doing in 2015 or 2016
