Indianapolis is where Carl Fisher (excerpt from the chapter about Fisher in “How Indianapolis Built America and How it will Rebuild it with the National Bicycle Greenway“), the PT Barnum of the Automobile Age, first sold HiWheels from his downtown bike shop. Because he sold so many of them, he was widely regarded as a top businessman well before he established the first auto dealership in the country!!
The eight testimonials you see here are all from Indianapolis residents. The pic at the Indiana Capitol with at least three Eagles on the steps was taken two blocks from his shop on Pennsylvania Ave !! All of this appeared in the most prestigious magazine of its day – The Wheelmen..
