Palo Alto to Oakland (over the Dumbarton) – NEW!!
May 7, 2017 @ 8:00 am - 3:00 pm
This is a ride every Bay Area cyclist needs in his trophy case. To be able to say you pedaled your bicycle over the San Francisco Bay is an important right of passage for anyone who bikes in this region – to be able to know in your heart when you are out on the freeways and bridges that make this connection, that you did it on a bicycle! With your own two legs!!
What’s more is that once we reach the Oakland Airport at the edge of the Bay, we will be using several important pathways that Ron Bishop played a big part in advocating for. It is here that we look forward to being joined by the group Ron founded with Mary Ann Blackwell called the Bay Area Easy Riders Touring Group.
Peter Wagner, probably the most experienced Kinetic Sculpture racer alive will be riding with us!!
Martin Krieg explores the Dumbarton on Eagle
Blogged in 2009, the maps the above alludes to are no longer on line and this was is first crossing of it on the Eagle
Join us at:
Palo Alto City Hall at 8AM
Bronco Billy’s Pizza Palace, 3940 Smith Street at 10:30 AM in Union City
Hilton Oakland Airport at Hegenberger and Doolittle at 12:30.
note: Return to Palo Alto is easy and fun. BART has a station right at Oakland City Hall that you can use to connect with CalTrain at the Milbrae station. Another option is to get off at Embarcadero and ride the waterfront for five miles to the CalTrain station at 4th & King almost across from AT&T Park.
