Indpls Gwy Tour + Harrahs Reno to Receive 13th CA Mayors’ Ride

After our festive  tour of the downtown Indianapolis  Greenway system preceded by a visit to Chicago Critical Mass and followed by a Tour of nearby Cincinnati and maybe Columbus, even Pittsburgh, we head later in July to California for the 13th annual Mayors’ Ride. We are still working out the logistics for a possible start from  the birthplace  of the  NBG, with a micro bike tour of the famous surf town of Santa Cruz, but the Bay Area  cities of San Jose, Palo Alto, , Oakland and Berkeley will all get proclamations and host micro tours of their own  before we ride from Sacramento to Folsom on the American River Pkwy.

Our  final hurrah will not take place in historic Folsom this year  but in the car free plaza  that houses the widely acclaimed Reno Arch and serves as the entry way to the 2014  sponsor of Reno NBG Biking, the  world famous 1050-room, Harrahs Casino & Hotel.  Still in the discussion stages, there is also a strong likelihood that this year’s micro Tour of Reno, that begins and ends at Harrahs, will be received by a party the Harrahs people are experts at producing. While live music is possible, so too are refreshments, maybe even a few words from outgoing mayor Bob Cashell, a true friend of cyclists, as well as from the Reno Bike Project people.

Do stay tuned as we now use our Mayors Ride campaigns not to scout a route but to show  cyclists what makes the major cities along the coast-to-coast  route we have selected so much fun to experience on two wheels.
