Jacquie Schliiter to Race RAAM on a Recumbent for a Brain Cancer Cure

Following in the footsteps of the remarkable Maria Parker (2013 RAAM female victor) on her Cruzbike, another amazing recumbent cyclist, Jacquie Schlitter, will be racing across the country (RAAM – Race Across America) also  for 3000 Miles to a Cure this summer.

Jacquie’s Story:

Jacquie holds many cycling records, including the 24-hour event at Bike Sebring, in Sebring, Florida where she rode an incredible 516.4 miles. She also recently set the record for racing across Florida in the 400-mile Florida RAAM Challenge. Jacquie is not only a great racer, but a great spokesperson. She’s a professor of Nursing at St. Petersburg College.

On her crew will be her husband, John Schlitter, also a world-class long distance cycling champion.  John’s sister, Cindy, recently passed away after a long battle with brain cancer. It is this that has united her with Maria Parker, who she competed fiercely with on the road. Now they are friends committed to fight brain cancer.

RAAM 2014 / Raffle:

The race begins on June 10th. 3000 Miles to a Cure has helped organize a special raffle to raise money to cover Jacquie’s RAAM expenses, which will be $15,000. Any money over the $15,000 raised in the raffle will go straight to brain cancer research. Jacquie’s RAAM race will pay big dividends in the fight against brain cancer, so we support her race and this raffle. Details about the April 26th raffle ($20 ticket for a chance at 5 different recumbent bikes!) are HERE.
