The republic of Ireland is picking towns all across the nation to rebuild them for the purpose of human power and not cars. The nearby (to me here in Co Mayo in the west of Ireland)  town of Claremorris was just blessed with a 431,000 euro gift to do so per:

Claremorris was selected this week as one of nine towns in the country that will become an Active Travel Town. The initiative has seen each of the towns get funding for local cycling and walking strategies, including new cycle-lanes, the provision of walkways, and behavioural change initiatives in local schools and workplaces to encourage people to switch their transport mode.
