In 1986 when I rode this bike across the United States, I can remember the conversations I had inside my mind where I promised to always work to keep my Via Recumbent Bicycle in the limelight. I wanted to express the gratitude I felt for the safe and comfortable passage this machine made possible for me. I told myself when all the tv and newspaper cameras were pointed at us that I would never forget what this bike made possible for me. Toward that end, I even made sure my publisher put a picture of the bike on the back cover of my book Awake Again, all the way back from Head Injury – forward by Wayne Dyer, PhD. It was even in the contract we negotiated…..
Well, here now 33 years later, this bike still gets lots of compliments and evokes praise. A couple of days ago for example, I heard a late teen exclaim, “that’s the coolest thing I have ever seen!”
Inside, I was saying, ‘by God’s grace go I’ !!
btw: Other bikes on a comfort par with the Via (also more comfortable than a trike):
The Rans Phoenix
The Linear Folding Limo
btw: Five blocks from my house, I am on the White River in front of the Indianapolis skyline
