NBG Volunteers
When I lived in Santa Cruz, CA, I had access to the Santa Cruz Volunteer Center. They had a pool of people looking for ways to give of their time to build the communities in which they live. They even matched our organization with a volunteer who helped us get our website built back when we were researching the route that you can find online at BikeRoute.com.
To get the National Bicycle Greenway humming here in Indianapolis, I need a volunteer bureau like what I had back in the Surf City. As an aside, they also match people in need of court ordered community service hours with those nonprofit agencies that can make the best use of their skill sets.
On a national level does anyone here have any experience with Senior Corps? I did find a branch called the Retired and Senior Volunteer Program but it is W. Virginia based. Points of Light also looks promising. HERE is the overview of how they serve nonprofits. Focused on finding a local such volunteer bureau, I also found the United Way of Central Indiana located on Meridian under five miles from my house!
