Slippery Noodle, Oldest Storefront in Indianapolis

This is the oldest storefront in Indianapolis. Now called The Slippery Noodle, it has changed hands many times since its original 1850 construction. The bar you see in the last photo, was the original entryway to the hotel that it once was.  Now, a block from Lucas Oil Stadium, where the Indianapolis Colts play their football games, it also sits just in front of the Union Train Station that was built two years later in 1852 and played an outsized part in settling the West.

World famous unicyclist, Eddie Moffat shows off the historical register placard.

btw: From the Facebook group,  Indy Nostalgia, I learned it was a former hot spot for mobsters as Jack Dillinger (complete with bullet casings stuck in the bricks), a watering hole during Prohibition, a haven for runaway slaves and even a bordello.
