Krieg Writing National Bicycle Greenway Business Plan (not a Book)

I am NOT writing a book. As a hunkered in to the P&L spreadsheet for one of the cost centers I am describing, I was hit with a game changing awareness. In telling my story with numbers for what I thought was the “How to Build the NBG” book, it struck me that I am really writing a business plan. Again!

In the early 90’s, in Santa Cruz, CA, I wrote a 100+ page business plan to expand my successful Cycle America Regional Directories publication (60K books in five different parts of California, 8 pages full-color fold-out maps). It was so good that the Small Business Development people held it up as an example for how to write such a document. As soon as I began to shop it around, however, the World Wide Web changed everything. When I saw there was a way to not have to flood the nation with the paper of books to get my vision out there, I changed direction.

We shifted our focus to the Internet and with Bikeroute.com became one of the first bicycle websites online. And one of the first thousand in all the world.

Nor will anything be lost as I shift my focus to investors and not the general public. All the work I have done selling Indianapolis and justifying it as the Bike Capital of America will serve as support documents. They will back up the requests for financial commitments (the NBG Headquarters, NBG Hub, NBG Signage, etc) that will need to be made here in the Crossroads of America as we keep showing the rest of this Nation what is possible .

So exciting!
