In this picture, I am riding into Carson, NV at 4,400 feet from 7,150 foot Spooner Summit. high above Lake Tahoe. On this approximately eleven mile descent, I hit speeds that were easily in the high 30's and maybe even low 40's. It went on for so long that my legs started to fall asleep.

A crash at this speed would have meant probable death and there were a number of things that could have brought on such disaster. I could have been tripped up by a rock or crack in the road that I had not seen. The inner wire holding the tire on to the rim could have failed causing it to roll off the rim. A bolt could have worked itself loose bringing about a high speed shimmy that would have been impossible to control.

All I had was God to keep me safe and I made sure our connection was all I thought about!
