Welcome To the Wine Country

This handy-sized Cycle America book covers the area from Healdsburg and Bodega Bay in the northern part of the Napa/Sonoma wine country to as for south as Fremont and Redwood City in the San Francisco Bay area. It contains eight maps and many written route descriptions based upon hands-on research, describing the best places to ride and where to eat, sleep, shop, swim, wine taste and play along the way. Beginning or advanced cyclists can use the information we present to plan week-end, one day, or week-long bike tours of these areas. This directory also suggests great places to ride your mountain bike.

At the end of the book is a guide to all the bike shops in this area along with an easy to use listing which tells what brands of bikes these stores carry. Since we at Cycle America are happily car-free, we present the ideas, attitudes and resources YOU can use to adopt a more car-free lifestyle. We also present the recumbent bicycle and list recumbent bike dealers, so that you can learn what it is like to ride a bicycle in total comfort.

We plan to produce these directories on a national level to create the momentum for a coast to coast multi-use transportation and recreational bicycle trail, so that one day cyclists will be able to ride acros the U.S. in pleasure and safety. With this as our express purpose, Cycle America has founded The National Bicycle Greenway (NBG), a nonporofit corporation. On pages 8 & 9, you can find out how you can be a part of the National Bicycle Greenway.

So tour some wineries, see the highlights of the Bay Area, and get out in the sunshine on some California back roads. Rolling along on two wheels, with a gentle wind blowing through your clothes, you'll be lovin' life as you cycle your way to fitness, strength and aerobic conditioning!

We at Cycle America wish you well organizing your bike tours with our written directions and maps. Have fun, bike to work, smile a lot, and have a nice trip...!
