Dublin councillor, Andeww Montague, who represented his Irish metropolis as its 342nd Mayor in 2012 when he rode in the San Jose, CA (Dublin’s sister city) Bike Party celebration, has just agreed to help me lead what we are hoping will become an annual event, the Tour de Dublin. A powerhouse for cyclists in his million person city, Andrew has been the driving force behind the bike rental program that has been so wildly successful in his city, a three hour train ride from Castlebar where i currently live. Here, on the previous day, Sat Aug 30, the Eagle and I will be leading the first ever tour of a town that that is being built into the center of the finest greenway system in the world, the Great Western Greenway.
To see many of the sights we are hoping we will be able to casually roll by, and, at times stop and savor, on Sunday August 31, see the map that is embedded in the Dublin cell at our 2014 Mayors’ Ride schedule/scorecard. Free to all, meet at Dublin City Hall at 12 noon. Expect to ride for 2-3 hours contingent on the fitness level of the slowest rider. Note: on the Eagle, my average speed is 10 mph.
THX 4 all of U!!
