(C) The 2017 Davis NBG proclamation that Mayor Robb Davis recently signed is now on our Second Davis NBG Fest web page . Not just any proclamation, it helps people see how Davis has long fit into the national transportation scene as well as why it is so deservedly the Bike Capital of America.

It even caused college professor and long time Wheelman, Randy Mitchell, to remark on Facebook, that it contained things about which he was unaware

(D)  This is  the 2017 Oakland Proclamtion from Mayor Libby Schaaf! Soon it will be headed to our May 27 Second Davis NBG Fest with Tom Ayres before Robb Davis joins us on June 4 with the Davis proclamation at above on our ride to the State Capitol. They will bring these important documents to Sacramento and a pending reception from Governor Jerry Brown who has, himself, gotten into bicycling !

btw: For those of you who do not know Jerry Brown was the Mayor of Oakland from 2002-2006. He honored me as a native son of Oakland in these proclamations .

(E) Here is the fun WIKI  about beautiful Central Park where we are holding our Davis NBGFest

(F) Tim. Brummer of Lightning Cycle Dynamics (seen here in 1985) has been in the bicycle speed game for decades. I can proudly say that I have the genuine honor of riding his bike company’s P-38, the power plant for the bicycle that crossed America in a mind numbing 5 days. 1 hour.

Well, Tim is coming to our Second Davis NBG Fest on May 27 to talk about how the Lightning name has become synonymous with speed. In fact, if you want to hear some background on this legendary man who has been at it since the 70’s, here is the podcast he and I did.

(G) I feel so blessed to be in the City of Davis at at point in time when Robb Davis is the Mayor. Despite the fact that he dismisses this high quality production as merely talk coming from his head, this is inarguably the best explanation I have ever seen and/or heard about the power inherent in a Car Free lifestyle. And, being Car Free since 1989, I’ve been aware of what is being said about this way of doing one’s life for a very long time.

Major THX also to fellow

Davis bike activist Maria Contreras Tebbuttt for how well she structured this interview. In fact this production needs to be presented over and over to lots and lots of people not just in Davis but all over America!! WoW!!

(G1)  In his work designing exhibits for science fairs and public expositions all over America, Eric Warp’s crew put his brilliant designs on fam core matting, About a month ago, I asked him if maybe he could put this image on a 6-foot long, 30-inch tall piece of foam core so we can place it in our Festival booth and run it in front of our table when we table at other events. Well on our Saturday ride to Winters, he told me he found a small sliver of time in the early part of this week in which  he can create something for us!!

WoW!! This is going to be so high class tops!!  Too exciting!!

(H)  Jerry Brown is starting to get into cycling!! Will he meet car-free bike zealot, Davis Mayor, Robb Davis, on Sunday June 4, the week after our Second Davis NBG Fest when we ride from Davis to Sacramento per this link ?

When he was the Mayor of Oakland, he used to take cold showers. Maybe it will even more inspire him to know that in keeping with our 15th annual Mayors’ Ride tradition, we’ll also be arriving with present Oakland Mayor Libby Schaaf‘s NBG Day proclamation!

In Davis, our ride will launch from Ken’s Bike-Ski-Board, Blisworks Bikes and Grocery Outlet!!
(I) Yousef Ali, a recent UCD graduate and the volunteer director of  last year’s UC Davis Whole Life Expo wants to help with the 2017 Davis NBG Fest!  WoW!!  He tells me he can even probably  mobilize  volunteers as well as help getting it promoted. He and I are going to meet  this week and so we can discuss specifics.
What’s wild is that he recently started working  at Grocery Outlet, one of our main festival  sponsors, and grew up with with a few of the employees there that  have become my buddies. One such pal is Scott Gidding, whoI talk about next

(J) Scott Gidding, a lifelong Davis resident, and Grocery Outlet employee, is talking to his Fire University colleagues about an act for our event, One possibility is a fir spinner associate who can ride a unicycle as he juggles fire. If Scott feels confident that they can create a show worthy of our attention, he will let me know. Nor are he and his fire handlers new to this possibility. The Fire University has been around since 2006 and eve has its own WIKI!!

Screen Shot 2017-04-29 at 11.59.59 PM(K) Barry Burr, a bike lighting genius and long time fried of mine, will be exhibiting his Oculus  bike lights at our Festival! Barry’s lights cast such a monstrous beam pattern that it looks like a car is creating the  illumination that they produce. Toward that end, NASA has even invited him to create lighting for some of their space mission work because Barry’a optics gives 60% better object recognition than the next best lighting NASA tested.

(L) Love Laundry here in Davis came on as  sponsor of our Festival!!  As the new laundromat in town and only one of two, theirs a state of the art operation that opened its doors last January. And already, their operation is a busy one. It’s easy to see why.
Love Laundry pushes the sizzle envelope in  big way to make sure they are the go to solution for clean clothes wear. I mean not only is there a full time attendant, a snack bar and free WIFI, but the place is clean beyond spotless, there are loads of flat screen TVs to look at and the dryers and washers all actually take credit cards! As well, drying is free if you use their washing machines.

(M) After 14 years of Mayors’ Rides, we have fleshed out the route (HERE) from San Francisco to Washington, DC that went live in 2014 and are looking for a cyclist(s) to ride it. We are looking for someone who can pay their own expenses and do the ride during the months of June and July, leaving our 2nd Davis NBG Fest on May 27, so we can work with you as well as  publicize your journey. Since we will also be busy seeding the route with those businesses that service cyclists in our 20 NBG Biking Cities it is probable that you will find yourself in receipt of complimentary food, lodging and bicycle goods, etc !

You will be interfacing with 20 big city mayors and/or their office staffs. Toward that end, our 20 city, Mayors’ Ride schedule is HERE.

To ride for us, reply with your interest at NBG@BikeRoute.com

(N) The Whole Earth Expo people sent me this note:
